In the past several years, the ACPEF has given more than one million dollars in grants to advance the prosthodontic specialty.

2013 GSK Prosthodontist Innovator Awards

Sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Consumer Healthcare through an unrestricted educational grant, the goals of this sponsored research are to advance the understanding of prosthodontics-related biological and/or materials systems, human behavior, cost and care delivery, as well as economic modeling and quality of life investigations.

The 2013 recipients were Dr. Alireza Moshaverinia and Dr. Ghadeer N. Thalji. Read more.


ACPEF Founders Society Award

The ACPEF Founders Society Award honors individuals who have made a significant impact on the growth and development of the Foundation, and have demonstrated an extraordinary level of commitment to the advancement of the specialty.  Nominees must be a member of the ACP, or have demonstrated outstanding service to the specialty through the ACP and ACPEF; must have demonstrated exceptional leadership and outstanding volunteer service to the mission of the ACPEF; must be an active donor to the ACPEF with a substantive, cumulative level of giving; and must have contributed to building and growing the ACPEF.


John J. Sharry Prosthodontic Research Competition

The John J. Sharry Prosthodontic Research Competition is held during the Annual Session of the American College of Prosthodontists.

Sponsored by the ACP Education Foundation, the Prosthodontic Research Competition is held to stimulate and acknowledge original research in prosthodontics by students. The ACP Research Committee strongly encourages all programs to participate in this competition.

Ferencz Recognized

At the February 2013 meeting, Dr. Jonathan Ferencz was recognized for his nine years of dedicated service to the ACPEF Board of Directors. Dr. Leonard Kobren, who acted as Vice Chair, made the following statement:

"One can not overstate the impact that Jon Ferencz has made on ACPEF. Jon's legacy of leadership and fiduciary responsibility will continue to be reflected in the Foundation's mission and vision. Since the re-invigoration of the Foundation following the 2000 Annual Session in Hawaii, Jon's insights and creativity have been instrumental in every aspect of the Foundation.

"The success of the New Vision and Vision 2012 capital campaigns was bolstered by Jon's ability to articulate the Foundation's mission in a manner that resonated with our member colleagues and our corporate partners. He possesses a rare combination of qualities. Jon is imaginative, and resourceful while being precise, detailed and thorough. His contribution to the Foundation, the speciality and the discipline of prosthodontics will be ever a part of our evolving future."

The goal of the Young Prosthodontist Innovator Award is to advance understanding of prosthodontic-related biological and/or materials systems, human behavior, cost and care of delivery as well as economic modeling and Quality of Life investigations. The scope of research is any area of science that contributes to the understanding of prosthodontic tooth replacement therapies.
The American College of Prosthodontists is the organization of dentists with advanced specialty training who create optimal oral health, both in function and appearance including dental implants, dentures, veneers, crowns and teeth whitening.
